A new EV charging station has opened in Barnstaple, providing residents with greater access to electric vehicle charging.

The facility, developed by Zest, is located at Westaway Heights near North Devon District Hospital and features eight charging points.

The initiative aims to improve EV infrastructure in areas where charging options are limited, particularly for those without off-street parking.

Zest, which is rolling out similar projects across the UK, says the investment is part of its effort to make electric vehicle ownership more practical.

Robin Heap, CEO at Zest, said: “Widespread EV adoption demands accessible charging, especially close to home. Zest is leading the charge with local solutions, like this new site in Barnstaple, turning everyday spaces into future-ready community assets.”

The new charging site has been welcomed by local residents and is expected to support the transition to electric vehicles in the area.
