Fremington Local Nature Reserve (LNR) Management Group and North Devon Council have set up a conservation day. Taking place on Sunday, March 16 from 10am-3pm at Fremington LNR, this event is open to any volunteers.
This initiative aims to increase biodiversity and promote wildflowers to germinate. Therefore, the day will primarily involve removing debris from the meadow to increase sunlight on the reserve.
It is advised that volunteers bring appropriate footwear for crossing the stream.
Individuals taking part should wear clothing appropriate for the weather on the day, a packed lunch and a drink.
If owned, participants can bring a rake and gardening gloves.
Councillor Ricky Knight, Lead Member for Climate and Biodiversity at North Devon Council, commented on the benefits of hosting this conservation day.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for the community to get hands-on in supporting local biodiversity. Wildflower meadows are vital for pollinators and other wildlife, and by helping to clear the area, volunteers will play an important role in improving the habitat at Fremington Local Nature Reserve.”
To register for the event day, volunteers should e-mail Steve: tarkawildliferangers@gmail.com
Details on where to meet will be e-mailed to participants once they have registered with Steve.
This initiative provides volunteers with the chance to support Fremington LNR and contribute to the local wildlife.
