On February 27, North Devon Hospice hosted their annual ‘Jailbreak’ fundraiser.
An original event which is humorous and easy-going whilst raising funds for the vital work of the Hospice.
Following its success last year, £10,000 has already been donated.
Money raised from the hospice’s fundraising events is dedicated to the care of North Devon patients with life-limiting conditions.
Police officers based at Barnstaple Police Station voluntarily arrested participants for committing playful crimes.
These included “Chronic Procrastination” and “The Coffee Thief”.
Money was then donated to release inmates.
There was a very positive response from the local community, with many coming out in full support of participants.
Sophie, a participant, says: “Jailbreak was a day to remember, from start to finish it was perfect. I really enjoyed myself and definitely would recommend to anyone thinking of doing it! It was also amazing to hear how much we have helped the hospice by doing it as well. I hope to do it next year and hope more people will get involved! It’s done a lot for me and my family and it’s nice to give back.”
Patients and their loved ones can continue to receive round the clock specialist care thanks to continued public support.
Money raised from fundraising events ensures individuals are cared for during some of the toughest moments of their lives.
