Torridge District Council has launched a new ‘Filming in Torridge’ web page to promote the district as a prime location for film and TV productions.
With the UK becoming a popular destination for filmmakers worldwide, the council believes Torridge is well placed to offer an incredibly diverse range of locations to suit a variety of projects.
The new webpage provides step-by-step guidance, including a digital and downloadable location directory, sustainable filming guidelines, application forms, and a code of practice to help producers navigate the process.
Working in partnership with Filming in England and Screen Devon, the council hopes the initiative will boost revenue in the area, not only through location fees but also through the growing phenomenon of 'screen tourism', where fans visit filming locations from their favourite shows.
Over the coming weeks, efforts will be made to promote the district as a welcoming and versatile filming destination.
The initiative is also seeking suggestions from residents on potential filming locations.
Two common requests from location scouts are large, empty buildings such as warehouses or old offices, as well as 'look-alike' houses or buildings that could double for places in the USA or Europe.
Anyone with suggestions, especially with accompanying images, is encouraged to contact the Communications team at communications@torridge.gov.uk.
