A new film set to hit cinemas on May 30 will showcase stunning locations across North Devon as part of its journey along the South West Coast Path.
The Salt Path, starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs, follows a couple who, after losing their home and facing a devastating health diagnosis, embark on the 630-mile trek along England’s longest uninterrupted trail.
Several North Devon sites feature in the film, including Lynton to Heddon’s Mouth, Ilfracombe, Clovelly, and Hartland Quay.
Directed by Marianne Elliott in her feature film debut, The Salt Path is based on Raynor Winn’s bestselling 2018 memoir of the same name.
The book and film recount the true story of Raynor and her husband Moth, who turned to the South West Coast Path after their lives were upended.
The film, a 2024 British biographical drama, brings the breathtaking landscapes of Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, and Dorset to the big screen, offering a moving portrayal of resilience, love, and the healing power of nature.
