South West Blood Bikes have announced the extension of their Service Level Agreement (SLA) with North Devon District Hospital for another three years, something they say they are “very pleased to announce.”
With the current SLA set to expire in mid-February, discussions with the hospital led to an agreement to extend the arrangement.
Chair of Trustees Mark Bentley said he was “glad” to inform volunteer riders that the hospital was delighted to continue the partnership, and the new SLA has now been signed.
A South West Blood Bikes spokesperson called it “a huge vote of confidence” in the charity, particularly in the work of its North Devon team.
During the current SLA, North Devon volunteers have completed 284 jobs, covering 25,711 miles and transporting 1,834 individual items.
The charity estimates that using their service instead of taxis has saved the Trust approximately £80,620.
Every job is carried out free of charge by an entirely volunteer-run organisation with no paid staff.
