Torridge District Council has announced that Northam Burrows will be offering a range of free activities for children to enjoy this half term.

The events have been organised to keep children engaged and entertained throughout the week.

Councillor Cheryl Cottle-Hunkin, Lead Member for Culture & Community Engagement, said:

“The events organised by our rangers are an excellent way for all the family to discover more about the area surrounding the Burrows and the fascinating creatures that inhabit it. Best of all, all activities are free. So why not take the opportunity to enjoy some fresh air, have fun and discover something new!”

On Tuesday 18 February, visit the Northam Burrows Visitor Centre at 2pm to learn all about owls, including a fascinating look at owl pellets.

From 2pm to 4pm, visitors can also find out about the work of the Devon Harvest Mouse Project and meet some of their incredibly cute ambassadors!

There will also be a chance to make a mouse finger puppet.

On Thursday 20 February, join the rangers on the beach near Westward Ho! Slipway between 2pm and 4pm for a ‘Rockpool Ramble’, where families can discover the strange and wonderful creatures hidden in the rockpools at low tide.

There will also be a beach clean with Plastic Free Torridge and Northam Burrows rangers on Saturday 15 February.

Anyone wanting to take part should meet at the Westward Ho! Slipway at 10.30am.

No booking is required for any of the events, but children must be accompanied by an adult, and suitable clothing and footwear are advised.

If you're like Torridge’s hungry rangers, bringing along some snacks and drinks might also be a good idea.
