Traffic has been stopped on the M5 northbound due to a large diesel spillage.

National Highways has reported that the incident is located in Somerset, northbound between junction 24 at Bridgwater and junction 23 at Dunball.

The government's road agency has said that emergency services and their traffic officers are on the scene.

Traffic is currently being diverted.

National Highways told the Gazette: "Difficult to say how long the road will be closed, it’s an ongoing incident, and inspectors are en route to assess the road surface following the spillage from a ruptured LGV fuel tank."
