Bookings for Exeter Airport’s newest destination have been reported as “extremely promising.”

In less than two months, the airport will launch its latest route in partnership with KLM, offering flights to Amsterdam.

Flights to Amsterdam Schiphol will commence on 30 March.

The airport has noted that the route is not only attracting locals seeking a Dutch getaway but also international tourists and business travellers heading to Devon.

This marks the first time in almost five years that Exeter Airport has served this route and the first time KLM has operated from the Devon airport.

The flight duration is approximately 90 minutes, with daily departures from Amsterdam to Exeter at 4.15pm local time and from Exeter to Amsterdam at 5.20pm local time.

Stephen Wiltshire, Managing Director of Exeter Airport, said: “We are delighted with the response to KLM’s new service, which will provide greater choice and connectivity for travellers to and from the South West. The demand we are seeing for both inbound and outbound travel is a testament to the vital role that regional airports play in boosting connectivity for leisure and business, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board from 30 March.”

Jerome Salemi, General Manager for the UK & Ireland at Air France-KLM, added: “The early booking trends are extremely promising, and we are delighted to see such a strong response from both local travellers and international visitors. Amsterdam Schiphol is one of the world’s leading hubs, and this new route reinforces our commitment to providing global connectivity from the UK regions.”

KLM Cityhopper will operate the service using an 88-seat Embraer 175 regional jet. Passengers will have the option to choose between Economy and Business Class, with Premium Comfort (Premium Economy) available on long-haul intercontinental flights.
