A “historic” pub near Barnstaple has been put on the market, with Christie & Co handling the sale.

The Stags Head Inn in Filleigh has been described by agents as an “impressive, thatched country inn” that currently operates as a B&B.

The agents noted that “a new owner has the potential to expand the B&B side of the business” as the current owners prepare to retire.

The pub, a Grade II listed building, is set within the Fortescue estate and sits on a 1.5-acre plot.

It features a private car park and a large beer garden with waterside seating overlooking a lake.

Ryan Bassett, Business Agent at Christie & Co, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a historic inn in North Devon. The business has a strong food-led trade, with the potential to grow its overnight accommodation offering.”

The Stags Head Inn freehold is on the market with an asking price of £550,000.
