Devon Alert has issued an update stating that the A39 in Barnstaple is closed in both directions between Roundswell roundabout and Westleigh Junction following a road traffic collision.
The update posted on X stated: "Police have closed the A39 in both directions."
Motorists are advised to follow diversions via the B3233 and allow extra time for their journeys.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed to the Gazette: "Police were notified at around 1pm on Tuesday 28 January following reports of a collision involving three vehicles on the A39 at Horwood, Barnstaple.
"One man has been reported as having received serious injuries as a result and has been taken to hospital via the Air Ambulance.
"A road closure is currently in place."
