Amid growing interest in the scale of new housing developments across the region, the Gazette has been investigating current developments across North Devon to understand how many are ongoing right now.
Torridge District Council confirmed to the Gazette that 740 homes are currently under construction within its boundaries.
Additionally, 2,467 homes have been approved but have not yet started construction. These are located on 332 development sites where at least one home has already been started or completed.
This comes as Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner unveiled an overhaul of England's planning rules in 2024, aimed at helping to deliver Labour’s promise of 1.5 million new homes by 2029, highlighting the ongoing national effort to address housing demand.
The Gazette has also contacted North Devon Council for details on housing developments within their district and is awaiting a response.
Further updates will follow as the investigation continues.
