Devon County Council has announced widespread gritting across the county this afternoon and into the night.

Drivers are urged to proceed with caution and adapt to the conditions, as ice can still form on treated roads.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and freezing rain, which could cause disruption over the weekend.

The warning specifically covers parts of North Devon, including Lynton and South Molton, and extends into Somerset.

It will remain in effect from tomorrow, Saturday 4 January, until Sunday 5 January.

Residents in affected areas are advised to prepare for potentially hazardous conditions and stay updated on weather and travel alerts.
