Instow saved from flooding by local pub owner

Local action prevents potential flooding disaster

It has been reported that Instow was saved from flooding last week thanks to the quick actions of local pub owner, parish councillor, and district council by-election candidate, Mr Chris Hopkins.

As rising water levels threatened the village, Mr Hopkins identified blocked drainage channels as a key issue exacerbating the situation.

He organised a team to clear a path through the sand, which allowed the water to drain away safely, preventing potential damage to homes and businesses in the area.

Residents had previously raised concerns about the risks posed by sand build-up and poor drainage systems, but efforts to address these problems have been slow.

Despite repeated warnings from the community, little has been done to resolve the ongoing issues.

Mr Chris Hopkins, Conservative Party candidate for the upcoming district council by-election, spoke about the lack of action from authorities on the matter.

“Too often, we see endless discussions and delays while our village faces real challenges. This isn’t about party politics, it’s about stepping up when it matters,” Mr Hopkins said.

“We need representatives who take action, not just talk about it. Instow deserves better, and I’ll make sure we get it.”
