North Devon Hospice’s much-loved ladies-only walking event, Nightwalk, is set to return in 2025 bigger and better than ever before.

The event will see over 1,000 women and girls walking under the stars to raise vital funds for local hospice care.

On Saturday 17 May 2025, at 7.30pm, Nightwalk participants will embark on a magical moonlit sponsored walk along the iconic Tarka Trail in North Devon.

Walkers can choose between two routes: a shorter 3-mile walk to Instow or a longer 10-mile route to Barnstaple.

As they walk, they will enjoy breathtaking views, including a stunning sunset, while creating lasting memories along the way.

“We are so excited to be bringing back Nightwalk for 2025 and bringing our female community in North Devon together for this spectacular event,” said Georgia Bedgood, Events Manager at North Devon Hospice.

“This year, for the first time, we’ll be gathering all our participants at the same start point, and we’ll have our very own Nightwalk event village, complete with a stage, warm-up sessions, glow-up station, live music, and more! The atmosphere will be electric as we walk together to make a real difference.”

Along with the exciting addition of the event village, participants will enjoy lively entertainment along the trail, including music, lights, and refreshments to keep them energised.

A highlight of the evening will be the return of the Memory Bridge at Fremington Quay, where walkers can write messages in memory of loved ones.

“For many, Nightwalk is about coming together in solidarity, remembering someone special, and showing support for those facing life-limiting illnesses,” Georgia added.

“Everyone deserves compassionate care at the end of life, and together, we can help make that happen.”

Catrin Nadin, a nurse at the hospice’s Bedded Unit, emphasized the impact of the event’s fundraising.

“Every day, we have the privilege of caring for local families when they need it most. By taking part in Nightwalk, you are helping ensure we can continue to provide this wrap-around care and be a lifeline for people in our community at their most challenging times,” Catrin said.

Registration for Nightwalk is now open.

Those who sign up before Friday 7 February will receive a £15 Early Bird discount and a limited edition Nightwalk t-shirt to wear with pride on the night.
