Plastic Free North Devon has unveiled its January 2025 schedule, inviting the community to join repair cafés, beach cleans, and a mass day of environmental action. Here’s the lineup:
South Molton Repair Café
When: Saturday 10 January, 11am–1pm
Where: YMCA, Mill Street, South Molton, EX36 4AS
Details: Free repairs for textiles, small electrical items, carpentry, jewellery, and more. Bring your own zips or buttons for textile repairs. Email info@plasticfreenorthdevon.org if unsure about an item. Donations welcome but not required.
The Big Saunton Beach Clean
When: Sunday 12 January, 11am–1pm
Where: Saunton Sands
Details: Volunteers enjoy free parking. Cleaning equipment is provided, but bringing your own is encouraged. For questions, email info@plasticfreenorthdevon.org.
Barnstaple Repair Café
When: Saturday 18 January, 10am–1pm
Where: Barnstaple Library
Details: Repairs for textiles, soft toys, small electrical appliances, and mechanical items. Email info@plasticfreenorthdevon.org if unsure about an item. Donations welcome but not required.
Braunton Repair Café
When: Saturday 18 January, 10am–1pm
Where: Museum of British Surfing, Braunton
Details: Textile repairs, small electrical fixes, and minor carpentry. Email info@plasticfreenorthdevon.org for advice. Donations welcome but not required.
Ilfracombe Repair Café
When: Sunday 19 January, 11am–2pm
Where: Hand:Plant Café, Ilfracombe
Details: Repairs for sewing machines, textiles, toys, basic bike and jewellery items. Email info@plasticfreenorthdevon.org for more details. Donations welcome but not required.
Day of Action: Mass Community Clean
When: Saturday 25 January
Where: Various locations across North Devon and Torridge
Details: Join cleanups in your local area. Check Plastic Free North Devon’s website for location updates: plasticfreenorthdevon.org.
Woolacombe Beach Clean with Silent Disco
When: Saturday 25 January, 10.30am–12pm
Where: Mill Rock, Woolacombe Beach
Details: Combine a beach clean with music from a silent disco. Equipment provided. Contact Plastic Free Woolacombe via Instagram or call 07980625475 for more information.
