Torridge District Council has unveiled a draft housing strategy aimed at addressing the region's pressing housing challenges and is inviting public feedback during an eight-week consultation period.
The strategy outlines the council's vision and objectives for the next five years, detailing how it plans to meet housing needs across local communities.
Developed in consultation with elected members through workshops and feedback sessions, the document aims to direct resources and efforts effectively to tackle housing issues in the area.
Residents, partners, and interested parties can review the draft and share their thoughts until 4.45pm on Friday, 7 February 2025.
The strategy is available on the Council's website at www.torridge.gov.uk/housingstrategy, where participants can also complete an online questionnaire.
Alternatively, feedback can be submitted via:

All input will be considered as the council finalises the strategy.
A revised draft, incorporating public feedback, will be reviewed by councillors before adoption and publication.
Councillor Claire Hodson, Lead Member for Housing, said: “We realise that people are facing very real challenges with their housing circumstances across Torridge. We have included evidence and opinions within the strategy from all our District Councillors, which reflect their knowledge and awareness of the housing needs of their communities. We all recognise that by working together with partners, the Council has the opportunity to improve the housing situation for our towns, villages, and rural settlements.”
The council encourages everyone to take part in shaping the housing strategy to ensure it reflects the diverse needs and aspirations of the community.
