North Devon Council is reminding residents that the latest date to apply for a Winter Fuel Payment and still qualify is 21 December 2024.
Pensioners aged 66 or over who are on a low income could benefit from this support to help with heating costs during the colder months.
The Winter Fuel Payment is just one of the benefits available to those receiving Pension Credit, which averages over £4,000 per year.
In addition to the Winter Fuel Payment, Pension Credit recipients can also access additional support, including assistance with Council Tax, NHS dental care, and a free TV licence for those aged 75 and over.
It’s possible to apply for Pension Credit and have the claim backdated by up to three months, provided the claimant is entitled during that period.
However, to qualify for the Winter Fuel Payment, applications must be submitted by 21 December 2024.
North Devon Council encourages residents to help those who may be eligible, including friends, family members, or neighbours, to apply in time and take advantage of the financial support available this winter.
