The Taw Bridge (A361) and Torridge Bridge (A39) in North Devon will close at 12am on Saturday morning, 7 December, as a precaution against the severe winds forecasted by the Met Office.

Devon Alert announced the closures, stating the bridges will remain shut until wind conditions are deemed safe.

A spokesperson further advised on social media: "Please avoid travelling by road during potentially dangerous conditions."

The closures coincide with the upgraded weather warning for Storm Darragh, with red and amber alerts in place across the region. Residents are urged to stay indoors and follow safety advice during the storm.
