The first upgraded sections of the North Devon Link Road are now open to traffic, following significant improvements made over the past few years.
The work, which started in 2021, aims to enhance road safety and reduce journey times on the A361.
The sections that opened on 11 November include the Portmore roundabout to Landkey roundabout.
These upgrades include resurfacing, new vehicle safety barriers, and the installation of a new roundabout at Landkey to replace the previous T-junction.
A pedestrian and cycle bridge has also been added to the roundabout to provide access to future development areas in Westacott.
Further work continues along the route, with more sections set to open in the coming weeks. This includes road widening and drainage improvements between Harford Cross and Yarnacott.
Average speed cameras will also be installed on some stretches to monitor traffic speeds.
Once all sections are open to traffic, Griffiths, the contractor overseeing the project, will continue with minor works and landscaping.
These upgrades are designed to improve road user safety, reduce congestion, and support economic growth in North Devon.
The North Devon Gazette would love to hear your opinion on the newly opened sections of the North Devon Link Road.
