The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has issued a statement following the budget announcement made on 30 October by Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
In a message to the North Devon Gazette, a spokesperson said: “North Devon District Hospital is in critical need of future investment to replace and renew the hospital in order to keep and modernise the essential NHS acute hospital services that the people of northern Devon depend on.”
The spokesperson also welcomed the Government’s commitment to both operational and capital investment for the NHS, adding: “We have been told that the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care will provide further information on the timing of investments in the New Hospital Programme that will support the much-needed renewal of North Devon District Hospital.”
In preparation for this investment, the Trust is finalising its proposal with a phased delivery plan.
The spokesperson stated: “The Trust is in a position to accelerate our scheme in line with government expectations, making our plans ready for delivery. It is our expectation that the critical risks we have raised about the resilience of NDDH have been recognised and will be addressed.”
