Torridge District Council has announced it is recruiting non-elected members to join its Overview & Scrutiny Committee and Audit & Governance Committee.

The council is seeking three non-elected members for its External and Internal Overview & Scrutiny Committees.

The External Overview & Scrutiny Committee focuses on matters outside the council’s direct control, such as health services, community safety, and the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner.

Meanwhile, the Internal Overview & Scrutiny Committee reviews council policies and can request that decisions made by the Community & Resources Committee be reconsidered before they are implemented.

The council is also looking to appoint a non-elected member to the Audit & Governance Committee, which ensures the council’s governance is secure, including reviewing anti-fraud measures, financial performance, and risk management.

These positions involve attending meetings, contributing to discussions, and gaining insight into the council’s work.

Training and development opportunities are also available.

Applications can be made by emailing dem.services@torridge.gov.uk.

The closing date is 23 October 2024.
