Two new Trustees have been introduced as part of the restructuring efforts at Calvert Exmoor, which was recently saved by a successful £550,000 fundraising campaign.

The charity, providing accessible activity experiences, is the only residential activity centre for people with disabilities in southern England and is now exploring new opportunities.

The two new appointees are Jamie Morris and Glyn Brackenbury.

Jamie is one of the founders of The Travel Chapter, bringing experience from the holiday and property sector.

Glyn has spent his career in outdoor centres, including 15 years as a director at Skern Lodge in Appledore.

Chris Gregson, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said: “The first big step for the future of the centre is to have a refreshed and condensed Trustee Board of relevant industry experts, to lead the way moving forward. We are recruiting and approaching those we believe have the skills and mindsets needed.”

“Jamie has key experience with managing and growing one of the United Kingdom’s largest and most successful holiday booking companies. Meanwhile, Glyn has run expeditions all over the world, leading trips for individuals with limited mobility, including facilitating a quadriplegic man to kayak 100 miles through Greenland's iceberg-laden fjords to arrive at the polar ice cap.”

Chris added that together, they bring the ability to balance Calvert Exmoor’s operational needs with the commercial pressures in the outdoor leisure environment.

“They have a strong set of core values that will help to ensure the best possible experience for our staff and guests.”
