Chris and Arlo
Barnstaple's High Street tech shop, the iLab, has entered a new era after 13 years of trading.
Two senior staff members, Chris Stirland and Arlo Braid-Pittordou, have acquired the business from its previous owners, marking a significant milestone for the local establishment.
Situated opposite Primark, the iLab is well-known in North Devon for its expertise in smartphone and tablet repairs.

Importantly, the shop is North Devon’s only independent Apple repair provider, with Apple-certified technicians offering specialist expertise in servicing Apple devices.
Alongside this, they handle repairs for all other major brands of phones and tablets, securing the iLab’s reputation.
Chris and Arlo, both involved with the business since its opening in 2011, have been at the forefront of its day-to-day operations in recent years.
The opportunity to take over the iLab was described as a natural progression for the pair.
Chris said: “Arlo and I have been running the business for the past couple of years anyway, so it made total sense when we were approached to officially take it over. It feels like a natural progression. Our brilliant and loyal team will remain unchanged, so we can move forward with confidence that we will go from strength to strength in the services and range we can offer our local community and beyond.”
Arlo added: “We are beyond proud to take ownership of this fantastic business that means so much to us. We have so many ideas that we are excited to bring to our customers. We operate in a very competitive sector, but our team and reputation have enabled us to continue growing, and that’s what we intend to keep doing!”
The shop also offers trade-ins and sells new and second-hand devices, with a 24-month warranty included.
Beyond technical repairs, the iLab is known for its community involvement, regularly supporting local schools and charities.
This year, they will continue their work with the North Devon Hospice, a cause close to the business.
Chris and Arlo hope to build on the iLab’s existing reputation, ensuring it remains a key part of Barnstaple’s business community.
