Devon County Council has announced that the Seven Brethren Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in Barnstaple will be closed for maintenance from Monday, 30 September 2024, until Sunday, 13 October 2024 (inclusive).

The site will not be accessible to the public during this period due to the significant nature of the works, which will ensure the safety and practicality of the site’s operation.

The council said: "Due to the scale of the works it would not be safe/practical to open to the public during that period. The works are being undertaken outside of the busy summer period to try and minimise disruption to the public as much as possible."

The Seven Brethren HWRC will resume its normal operations on Monday, 14 October.

In the meantime, residents can use alternative recycling facilities at Bideford, Ilfracombe, and Torrington, which will remain open as usual.

Devon County Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
