Countdown to carnival begins

With less than a week to go until Barnstaple’s highly anticipated annual carnival, the Gazette is giving a preview to the event.

Starting on September 21, the full schedule for the day’s festivities will soon be released on the carnival’s official Facebook page. 

From 12 noon:

Get ready for a family-friendly start to the day with the Buzz Zone on Castle Green. This area will feature FREE bouncy castles, trampolines, children’s entertainment, and much more to keep the little ones entertained.

Over on The Strand, the Carnival Village will be in full swing, offering a variety of stalls and live music. 

From 2pm:

The excitement builds at The Voice Stage on The Square, where FREE live entertainment will set the tone for the afternoon.

5pm:

The highlight of the afternoon arrives with the crowning of the carnival royalty and the prize-giving for the winning carnival entries.

6pm:

The streets will come alive as the Grand Parade kicks off from Taw Vale, winding its way through Belle Meadow, Queens Street, and Boutport Street, before heading to North Walk.

8pm:

As the day draws to a close, head back to The Strand for more live music, followed by the much-anticipated Fireworks Finale to cap off an unforgettable day of celebration.

With additional surprises in store, including a prize treasure hunt and Up Close Radio, this year’s Barnstaple Carnival is shaping up to be an unmissable event for the whole family.
