Traffic signals out at Barnstaple junction

Drivers in Barnstaple are being urged to approach the Landkey Road/Newport Road junction with caution after reports surfaced of traffic signals being completely out of service.

The incident was first reported just before 11am today.

Devon Alert, the official traffic and travel service for the area, took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the issue.

In their post, they reassured the public that engineers had been made aware of the malfunction and are working to resolve the situation.

"Report of traffic signals all off on Landkey Rd/Newport Rd junction in Barnstaple. Please approach with caution," the Devon Alert post read.

No further details have been provided on the cause of the outage or when the traffic signals are expected to be back in operation.

Devon Alert is expected to provide updates on the situation as soon as the issue is resolved.

This developing story will be updated as more information becomes available.
