Roadworks on the A361 near Ash Mill are nearing completion after a vehicle fire caused significant damage to the road surface.
Devon Alert has announced that repairs are ongoing, with traffic remaining slow in the area as work progresses.
The incident, which occurred on August 16, led to the closure of the A361 in both directions.
Emergency services responded quickly, and the fire was extinguished, but the damage left behind required immediate road surface repairs.
Devon County Council is overseeing the repairs and has implemented temporary traffic signals to manage the flow of vehicles through the area.
Officials hope to remove these signals as soon as the work is completed to restore normal traffic conditions.
The Gazette understands from Devon and Cornwalll Police that: "Police were called to the A361 near Rose Ash at around 6.30pm on Friday 16 August following a report of a two vehicle collision which left one vehicle on fire. The road was blocked in both directions.
"All people involved were able to safely exit their vehicles. Recovery was arranged and the scene handed over to Highways."
Drivers are advised to proceed with caution and expect delays until the repairs are finalised and the traffic signals are removed.
