Devon and Cornwall Police are seeking witnesses and information following the theft of a GPS system from a tractor in the Yarnscombe area of Torridge.

The incident occurred during the early hours of Monday, 5 August, between 2am and 5am.

The agricultural GPS system, said to be a crucial tool for modern farming, was stolen from a stationary tractor.

The theft has left local farmers on high alert, as these systems are essential for efficient and precise farming operations.

The police have said they are urging anyone with information or who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area to come forward.

In light of this incident, Devon and Cornwall Police are advising all agricultural workers and vehicle owners to take extra precautions.

They recommend enabling PIN protection on GPS devices where possible, marking the equipment with postcodes or etching kits, and, most importantly, removing these systems from vehicles when not in use to store them securely.

The police are also asking the public to be alert to any unusual activity, such as unfamiliar vehicles or individuals loitering near farms or agricultural equipment.

If anything suspicious is observed, residents are encouraged to note down descriptions and vehicle registrations and report them immediately by calling 999.

Anyone who has information regarding the theft, has been offered similar items for sale, or has relevant CCTV footage from the Yarnscombe area is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police.

Information can be provided by phoning 101 and quoting reference number 50240195642 or via the Devon & Cornwall Police website.
