A team of determined fundraisers has successfully completed the Three Peaks Challenge, raising over £17,000 to support North Devon Hospice.
Last week, the Gazette reported on the efforts of Evie Wyatt, who participated in memory of her friend and former boss, Betty Boundy.
Now, the hospice has revealed the entire group of participants who joined Evie in this remarkable fundraising effort.
Led by walking guide Jon Barnett, the group tackled the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales; Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon - all within 24 hours.
Among the participants were Tom and Grace Parkin, Sam Husband, Marie Monday, Lucy Pitt, Charlotte Perry, and Evie Wyatt.
Evie shared how the emotional and physical demands of the challenge were tough, but she found the strength to complete it with the support of her team, inspired by Betty's memory.
The money raised will help North Devon Hospice continue to provide essential care for those affected by cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, offering support both at home and in their Bedded Unit, where patients receive critical care when needed most.
Georgia Bedgood, Community Fundraiser at North Devon Hospice said how proud the charity was of the Three Peaks team.
She said: “I’d struggle to climb one of these mountains, let alone all three in 24 hours!
“From their first training walk to reaching the top of that final climb, it’s been an absolute pleasure following these guys on their Three Peaks journey. I know I speak for everyone here at North Devon Hospice when I say how incredibly proud and grateful we are to them for taking on this epic challenge to make a difference to the people in our care.”
