This summer, Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) is calling on the people of Devon to put on their aprons and host baking events to support the charity's crucial work.
Whether you’re an experienced baker or a novice in the kitchen, DAA is inviting everyone to organise a “Bake Off for Take Off” event.
The goal is to enjoy some sweet treats while raising vital funds to help keep the air ambulance service running, especially during the busy summer season.
With Devon’s summer bringing more traffic, outdoor adventures, and an influx of tourists, the DAA crew is busier than ever, responding to road traffic collisions, medical emergencies, and accidents.
Beyond fundraising through baking, DAA also plays a crucial role in North Devon, where they have established numerous community landing sites.
These sites are essential for providing quick access to emergencies, ensuring that the air ambulance can land safely and reach those in need promptly.
Hosting a garden party, coffee morning, or bake sale could directly contribute to saving lives during these critical months.
Lottie Clark, Community and Events Manager for DAA said: “We are so excited to launch this year's Bake Off for Take Off event and to see what delectable treats and fun events the amazing people of Devon come up with! It’s always lovely to support our supporters in their fundraising activities and we have designed a fabulous fundraising pack, including bunting, cake toppers and invitations, to help ensure every event is a great success. We have even created a Pinterest page where we will share recipes and welcome recipes to be shared with us too!”
To sweeten the deal, everyone who registers their Bake Off for Take Off event in August will receive a free pack of edible cake toppers.
Additionally, DAA is hosting a ‘Best Bakes’ competition from August 5 to 18, where participants can submit photos of their show-stopping creations for a chance to win a Devon Air Ambulance goody bag.
