A Lynton woman has successfully completed the Three Peaks Challenge, raising an impressive £17,061.25 with her team for North Devon Hospice.

Evie Wyatt took on the challenge with her team from July 12-13, which involved climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales within 24 hours: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon.

Back in April, the Gazette reported the motive behind her challenge.

The team accomplished this incredible feat in 23 hours and 28 minutes.

The Three Peaks Challenge is known for its demanding nature, requiring participants to climb Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Snowdon in Wales, all within a single day.

For Evie, this challenge was more than just a physical test.

She undertook it in memory of her former boss and mentor, Betty Boundy, affectionately known as Mrs B.

She explained that Mrs B soon became her mentor and teacher of life skills, a friend to my family!

Mrs B was cared for by North Devon Hospice.

Evie explained that: “During this time she enjoyed life in remission but it was made short, a good life taken too soon and I know whilst climbing these mountains when I think of giving up Mrs. B will be in my ear ‘Eviekins you can do this’.”

Reflecting on the experience, Evie said: “Amazing, such an experience..pretty hard for someone like me, the team were so supportive.. the guides were amazing..I hit a wall 20 mins before the end but put my big girl pants on with the help of the team and got to the top..when I left Barnstaple we had just over 6k by the time we completed the challenge we had just over 8k..emotions were high the whole time.”
