A well-known local care home near Westward Ho! that began with just one resident has celebrated its 30th anniversary.
Heron’s Lea was opened by Anita and Tim Dymond in 1994 and remains a family-run business but has expanded to accommodate 20 residents and continues to enjoy a good local reputation.
Heron’s Lea now employs 45 staff after the family added an extension to the home and built a new Day Care Centre to cater for up to 12 clients a day.
Set between Abbotsham and Westward Ho! the Large detached home was built in 1924 and when the Dymond family opened it as a care home, they had just one resident, known as ‘Uncle Ronnie’.
Since then it has gradually expanded and now Anita and Tim’s children Rosita and Oliver also work in the family business and hope to continue the growth over time.

Rosita Dymond said: “It’s been a great success with a fabulous reputation over the past 30 years.
“We encourage family and friends of our residents to visit at any reasonable time of the day or evening and they are invited to stay for a coffee or cup of tea in the comfortable lounges, conservatory or patio depending on the time of year.”
