Fremington man takes on 120-pound challenge for Clarity charity

Keiran Wright will complete the challenge in October

A Fremington man is set to push his limits in support of a local charity.

Keiran Wright, 28, will tackle the Stroud Half Marathon on October 27 with a 120-pound (55kg) rucksack, raising funds for Clarity, a Barnstaple-based charity dedicated to providing affordable counselling services.

Clarity's mission is to remove financial barriers for those seeking mental health support. Staffed primarily by volunteer counsellors, the charity offers essential services to those in need.

They offer affordable and confidential therapeutic services, including 1-to-1 and group sessions, to support mental wellbeing through a variety of therapeutic styles tailored to clients' needs.

He said: “I understand that times are tough, so any support is incredibly valuable and deeply appreciated.”

On his GoFundMe page, Keiran explained his motivation: “Although I have completed half marathons before, this time I want to push myself to the limit and raise both funds and awareness for this important cause. This attempt will also be part of the Guinness World Records, but more importantly, it will make a real difference in people's lives through Clarity's work.”

Keiran continued: “I am doing this to raise awareness for mental health and highlight how critical affordable counselling can be for those who are struggling. Just like Clarity's ethos, finances should never be a limiting factor in seeking help.”

Regarding his preparation, Keiran shared: “Training is going well, slowly but positively. I have a 20-week training plan, so I hope to be in good shape when the half marathon day arrives.” He added: “To reach my target goal will feel fantastic. Having lived in Fremington for only two years, it’s nice to give something back to the local community. Hopefully, the public's generosity will provide help for those in need.”

Keiran's fundraising goal is £350, and he has already raised more than £200.

For those who wish to support Keiran's challenge and contribute to Clarity's mission, donations can be made through his GoFundMe page.
