Following Thursday night’s General Election result, North Devon’s Reform UK candidate has claimed they succeeded in removing sitting Conservative MP Selaine Saxby from office.

Speaking at the weekend, Nigel James said: “We achieved our objective by firstly removing the current Conservative MP followed by creating a substantial platform with over 8,000 votes for Reform UK.

“15,000 wasted Conservative votes that night which could have put our centre right party into office and I'm sure the only real opposition in Parliament will be Nigel Farage.

“Those Conservative voters will see this and get behind a party that have filled the void where the Conservative party used to be, before they lurched left to join common ground with Labour.

“They will also see what open borders really look like under Labour.

“The future looks rosy for Reform UK and for us to successfully become the next government in 2029.”
