Appledore Ladies football team has capped an extraordinary season, finishing unbeaten after securing a 3-2 victory over Braunton mid-week and being awarded three points due to Hemyock's inability to field a team.
This impressive feat sees the team advance to the Devon Women's Premier Division next season.
The team, which has only been together for one season, achieved a record of 144 goals scored and just 17 conceded across both league and cup competitions.
Their performance has made this season an unforgettable chapter in the team's history.
Manager Martin Windsor expressed his pride in the team's achievement: “It feels amazing to go the entire season unbeaten, especially being our first season together. When we started out, we never imagined achieving this. To go unbeaten will stay with these girls for a long time to come.”
Looking ahead, Martin acknowledged the challenges that await in the Premier Division but remains optimistic.
He said: “Next season will be extremely difficult, but we will go in believing, and we will give it our all and see what we can do. Next season is about building on the success of this season, trying to hold our own in the top league in the Devon women's football league.”
Martin highlighted the team's spirit and determination as key factors in their success.
He said: “We have shown heart and fight all season. We will need all this again to move forward.”
