South West Water has announced plans for essential repair work on Castle Street in Combe Martin this upcoming Sunday, May 12.
The operation aims to address a leaking pipe, necessitating a full closure of Castle Street adjacent to Combe Martin Health Centre.
In a statement, South West Water said: “We are carrying out essential work on the A399 Castle Street in Combe Martin on Sunday, 12 May to repair a leaking pipe. Due to this pipe being in the road, a full closure on Castle Street, adjacent to Combe Martin Health Centre, is needed to protect the safety of our teams and the public.”
Despite the inconvenience, the water company has said efforts have been made to mitigate disruption as much as possible.
The company extended gratitude to local residents and businesses for their understanding throughout this necessary maintenance.
The repair work will focus on Castle Street/A399, near the junction with Wet Lane, with the expectation of completion within the same day.
To ensure smooth operations, South West Water has ensured that local residents, businesses, emergency services, and bus companies are all informed about the upcoming closure.
Additionally, the parish council has been consulted in advance.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the duration of the repair work.
To assist motorists, a signed diversion will be implemented to guide traffic away from the affected area.
