Lynton Post Office has announced an agreed relocation to a new location.
The new post office will be found at Costcutter, 15-16 Lee Road, Lynton, EX35 6HW.
This move comes as a response to the closure of the previous branch in December due to the resignation of the operator and the withdrawal of premises for Post Office use.
The new location promises extended convenience, offering daily service from 8am to 8pm, effectively doubling the previous opening hours to a remarkable 84 hours per week.
With the final arrangements underway, the confirmed opening date will be released to the public shortly.
The decision to relocate to Costcutter was made after careful consideration and consultation with the community.
The new agent, appointed to oversee operations, has identified the convenience store as an ideal venue to continue delivering essential postal services to Lynton residents.
At the new location, customers can expect a seamless transition with a Post Office serving point situated at the retail counter, offering the same range of products and services. Moreover, the proposed premises boast accessibility features including wide doors, level entrance access, a hearing loop, and space for wheelchair users.
Despite the move, the new location remains within close proximity, approximately 100 metres from the previous branch, ensuring easy access for the public.
Time-restricted parking facilities are available nearby, facilitating convenient visits for customers.
The Post Office has said: “After careful consideration of the feedback received during consultation, we remain confident that the layout and location of the new branch will continue to meet customer needs and deliver an excellent service, whilst securing the long-term viability of Post Office services in the local community.”
