The new charity shop opens in Torrington with a ribbon cutting ceremony
Torrington High Street has welcomed a vibrant addition to its shopping scene with the grand opening of North Devon Hospice's latest store.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolising the official launch, was conducted by Julie Blythe, a local patient battling secondary cancer and benefiting from the hospice's support.
"The new shop is amazing, so bright and lovely," remarked Julie.
"It’s on the main thoroughfare in town so should attract a lot of attention and hopefully raise lots of money for a wonderful cause."
The new shop promises a treasure trove of one-of-a-kind finds at bargain prices, drawing eager shoppers seeking unique gems while contributing to a noble cause.
Funds raised from the store will directly aid individuals like Julie, facing life-limiting illnesses, providing vital support and care.
"I can’t put into words the reassurance the hospice gives me," shared Julie,
"It means I have the confidence to live my life, knowing that no matter where I am on my journey, someone will be there for me."
Daren Ainscough, Head of Retail at North Devon Hospice, echoed Julie's sentiments, expressing delight in introducing a fresh retail experience to Torrington High Street.
"The new shop will be a great addition to the town, judging by how popular it’s been already," said Daren.
"Every donation to the shop and every purchase makes a difference. It helps to care for people just like Julie, who we were honoured to have cut the ribbon today."
Emphasising the shop's pivotal role in supporting essential care services, Daren encouraged community engagement through donations, purchases, and volunteerism.
He emphasised the collective impact of every contribution in ensuring continued assistance to individuals like Julie across the region.
With its convenient central location and diverse offerings, the new North Devon Hospice shop has invited locals to indulge in guilt-free shopping while making a meaningful difference.
Open Monday to Saturday from 9.00am to 4.00pm, the shop offers a chance to help out a fantastic cause, while treating yourself.
