Dog's Trust Ilfracombe seeks forever home for Lurcher Cross

Ru, the Lurcher Cross

Dogs Trust in Ilfracombe has drawn attention to a special resident who has spent over 200 days in their care.

Ru is a handsome and affectionate five-year-old Lurcher Cross, whose unwavering hope is to find a loving family to call his own.

Described as a big chap with an even bigger heart, Ru is a smart and energetic companion who is eager to share his love and loyalty.

With a knack for adapting to an active lifestyle, he's house trained and a seasoned traveller in cars, making him an ideal adventure buddy for the right person or family.

Dogs Trust has said Ru's ideal home would be one where he can be the centre of attention as the sole pet, although he has shown politeness in previous encounters with horses.

While he enjoys his outings, he prefers quieter walks where he can fully unwind and enjoy the company of his human companions.

Understanding that every dog needs time to adjust, Ru's new family should be willing to gradually build up his alone time, ensuring he feels secure and loved.

Currently residing in a foster home as part of Dogs Trust's Home from Home Scheme, the charity has said Ru has blossomed into the perfect house guest.

According to his foster carers, he's a joy to have around, relishing in moments of snoozing and snuggling.

Known for his affinity for closeness, Ru eagerly follows his humans around the house, happily joining them on the sofa and even sharing their bed at night, where he sleeps soundly through the night.

Elise Watson, Regional Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe, shared insights into Ru's personality, stating: "Ru loves to be close to his people and will follow his foster carers about the house, he settles well and he loves to join his foster carers on the sofa and he sleeps on the bed with them at night-he sleeps really well all through the night."

Despite his endearing nature, Ru's social skills with other dogs may require ongoing practice, an area where the training and behaviour team at Dogs Trust can provide guidance and support to potential adopters.

With optimism, the team hopes Ru will soon find the loving family he deserves.
