As the Easter bank holiday approaches this weekend, the region’s district councils are advising residents to stay informed about their waste and recycling collection schedules.
People are advised to check their collection schedules on the North Devon Council and Torridge District Council websites.
In North Devon, there will be no waste or recycling collections today (Good Friday, March 29), collections due today will be made tomorrow (Saturday, March 30) instead.
For the entire week commencing Monday, April 1, collections will be one day later than usual, running from Tuesday, April 2, to Saturday, April 6. Normal collection schedules will resume on Monday, April 8.
To avoid missed collections, residents are advised to display their bins, bags and containers at the kerbside by 6am on their scheduled day or the evening before.
In Torridge, all refuse and recycling collections normally due today (March 29) (black bag, recycling, garden waste) will also be collected one day later on Saturday, March 30.
Collections for the week commencing Monday, April 1 will also be one day later than usual for the whole week.
The normal collection schedule will resume from the week starting Monday, April 8.
With the Easter festivities resulting in increased cardboard and foil waste, people are reminded to continue recycling responsibly and put materials in the correct containers – please check the council websites if you are unsure.
