Devon and Cornwall Police have issued a warning to residents in the Woolacombe area following a series of burglaries, urging them to ensure their properties are secure and to review any doorbell and CCTV footage for suspicious activity.
Officers believe that two break-ins in Woolacombe and two in Mortehoe, occurring overnight between Sunday, March 24, and Monday, March 25, are connected.
In Mortehoe, between 12.30am and 3.00am, a Woolacombe resident heard a loud noise downstairs.
Upon investigation, the occupant discovered damage to a rear side door.
Missing items included a wallet and a key to the front door.
Additionally, there was evidence of a break-in at a disused Coastguard station in the area.
In Woolacombe, a bicycle was reported stolen from a property at Woolacombe Rise. Although the bike was later found nearby, the property's garage and porch doors were found open, with signs of an attempted entry into the house.
Around 3.40am, occupants of a property at Chichester Park, Woolacombe, were awakened by a noise resembling footsteps on the decking outside.
Subsequently, they found that the door to their side conservatory had been opened, with alcoholic beverages missing, and a bike shed tampered with.
Devon and Cornwall Police have urged residents to visit their website for crime prevention advice on protecting their homes. In case of an ongoing crime, individuals are advised to call 999 immediately.
Authorities are appealing for information from anyone who might assist with their investigation. Reports can be made online via the police website or by calling 101, quoting crime number 50240071144.
