The Swinging Blue Jeans
The Queens Theatre in Barnstaple has invited visitors to immerse themselves in the nostalgia of the 1960s with an extraordinary event on Thursday, May 4 - the ultimate 60s show.
Featuring a lineup of renowned acts from the era, including Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich, The Trems, The Fortunes, The Swinging Blue Jeans, and Vanity Fare, this concert promised to be a journey through a bygone musical era.
"60’s music is timeless, it’s from that wonderful era where the music will be played for years to come," said Beaky from Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich.
"Everybody seemed to have a favourite 60’s song, you could mention to the younger generation various 60’s bands and they wouldn’t know who they were. When they heard the songs, then they’d know more than they thought. As these songs were still being played on radio, they were used in movies, TV films and dramas, and in shopping malls all around the world."
Mick Smitham of The Fortunes shared his experience, saying: "I’ve been with the band for 48 years, replacing the original lead guitarist. I love performing and having that audience contact. Some of the audience members have been following the band for years. Then you go out into the theatre foyer to meet and greet, and the mother who's been a fan since her teens and you’ve seen at many shows is there with her daughter and granddaughter. And all have a favourite Fortunes song. Long may it continue."
Eager concert-goers should secure their tickets promptly to ensure they don't miss out on this unforgettable evening.
Tickets for the show, which commences at 7.30pm, are available for purchase either from the box office by calling 01271 316063 or online at www.queenstheatre-barnstaple.com
