Devon Rape Crisis & Sexual Abuse Services (DRCSAS) is actively seeking women volunteers to join their Helpline and Email support services.

As a leading advocate for survivors of sexual violence, DRCSAS has recognised the importance of diverse representation and invites women from all walks of life to apply.

Scheduled to commence in April in Exeter, the upcoming training course has promised a transformative experience for volunteers, empowering them to make a tangible impact within the community while honing essential skills.

Notably, this opportunity is exclusively available to female applicants, in accordance with Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equalities Act 2010.

Mandy Barnes, Volunteer and Training Manager at DRCSAS said: "We need women volunteers to ensure our services are inclusive and empathetic. This is an opportunity to not only support survivors but also to grow personally and professionally."

Prospective volunteers can anticipate:

  • Building confidence and positively influencing the lives of survivors.
  • Joining a nurturing community and forming meaningful connections.
  • Acquiring new skills, invaluable experience, and earning an accredited qualification.

Interested individuals are urged to contact Mandy Barnes via email at mandy@devonrapecrisis.org.uk or explore the organisation's website at www.devonrapecrisis.org.uk.

Applications are currently being accepted, with a deadline set for Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024, at 5.00pm.

Early submissions are encouraged to secure a spot in the program.

Sharing her own volunteer journey, Mandy Barnes reflected: "Along with all the training I was given, I felt respected, appreciated, and valued as an individual as well as for volunteering."
