Suspect charged after dog is killed in Woolacombe burglary

A 23-year-old Woolacombe man is to appear in court today (Monday) following an alleged burglary in the village during which a pet dog died.

Alexandru Balea, 23, of South Street, Woolacombe, has been charged with burglary, criminal damage and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal following the incident on Thursday, February 22.

Police had previously confirmed the break-in took place between 10am and 6.50pm while the owners were out.

Balea was subsequently charged and was remanded in police custody before his appearance at Exeter Magistrates’ Court today.
