The police have stressed the importance of community feedback

Barnstaple police are gearing up for an operation to address community concerns and combat crime, and they want to hear from you.

This Spring, the Neighbourhood Team is set to focus on crime trends and anti-social behaviour incidents reported by residents.

They are encouraging community members to provide intelligence and feedback on local issues.

The police operation, scheduled to commence in mid-March, will involve high-visibility patrols and increased interaction with the public.

Inspector Andy Wills, who leads the Barnstaple Sector, explained the significance of timing the operation with the arrival of warmer weather, often associated with a surge in anti-social behaviour in public spaces.

“We have already been speaking to local residents at community engagement events using survey cards but would like to reach out further to promote our questionnaire. We want to identify what issues are troubling our communities the most and work with them to reassure them,” he said.

Inspector Wills has stressed the importance of community feedback.

The survey itself will only take a few minutes to complete.

The input from the survey will help play a vital role in shaping police strategies and resource allocation to ensure community safety.

Residents are encouraged to follow the Barnstaple Police Facebook account and visit the Devon & Cornwall Police website for updates.

Additionally, they can sign up for Devon and Cornwall Alert to receive information on appeals, crime prevention advice, and incidents in their area.

Currently, over 37,000 people are subscribed to the two-way communication system, which offers the option to receive emails and/or text messages.
