Work on the A361 North Devon Link Road upgrade has gained momentum as the project approaches its final stages.

With the completion deadline set for summer, a huge effort is underway to finish one of the remaining tasks before the Easter holidays, aiming to minimise disruption for local residents and businesses.

The upcoming essential work will necessitate five weeks of overnight road closures and temporary daytime traffic lights between North Aller Roundabout and Landkey Roundabout on the A361.

As part of Devon County Council’s initiative, the contractor Griffiths will dig the road in multiple areas to waterproof five major structures beneath the road.

Additionally, drainage improvements, safety barrier replacement, and resurfacing will take place, reducing the need for future maintenance and reducing potential disruptions.

The scheduled dates for this crucial phase of work are as follows:

- Nighttime Closure: From Monday, February 19, to Friday, March 22
The A361 North Devon Link Road will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am on weekday evenings (Monday to Friday) between North Aller Roundabout and Landkey Roundabout. Weekend overnight closures will not be in effect.

- Daytime Traffic Lights: From Tuesday, February 20, to Thursday, March 21
During weekdays, two sets of temporary traffic lights will regulate traffic from 6am to 8pm on the same stretch of road. Over the weekends, these traffic lights will operate continuously, 24 hours a day.

While the traffic lights will be closely monitored, motorists are advised to allocate extra time for their journeys, anticipating delays during peak hours.

To reduce congestion, abnormal loads will be diverted through alternative routes in the work areas on A361.

Given the specialised, weather-dependent, and intricate nature of the work, every effort will be made to complete it promptly to fully reopen the road.
