Following a comprehensive ballot involving all Green Party members in the Torridge and Tavistock constituency, Judy Maciejowska has emerged as the overwhelming choice to represent the party in the upcoming general election.

Currently serving as the Coordinator of the West Devon Green Party, Judy resides in Bere Alston in the Tamar Valley and is an active member of the Bere Ferrers Parish Council. With over 40 years of dedicated membership, Judy has been a steadfast presence on the Green Party's governing bodies.

Expressing her joy at the selection, Judy stated, “I’m delighted to have been selected to represent the Green Party at the next general election. With the natural world in such a precarious situation, the Green Party’s policies have never been more vital. Whether it’s concern for a much-loved variety of butterfly or extreme weather events, we’re all affected by climate change and its impact on communities."

Judy emphasised the urgency of addressing climate change and its far-reaching consequences, from biodiversity concerns to extreme weather events. She also touched on social issues, highlighting the rising cost of living and housing shortages as outcomes of decisions made by successive governments over the years.

“We need to make better choices that enable us all to live fulfilled lives in harmony with each other and with nature. I am convinced that only the Green Party offers those choices,” Judy added.

Torridge and Tavistock is one of 22 constituencies in the South West region that has chosen a Green candidate for the upcoming General Election. This decision expands the opportunity for approximately 1.5 million more people in the area to cast their votes in favour of Green Party policies in 2024.
