The choir will venture to Ireland as part of their anniversary celebrations this year.
Barnstaple Ladies Choir is gearing up for a noteworthy milestone as they approach their 40th Anniversary in 2024. Having weathered the challenges of the pandemic and experiencing a surge in membership, the ladies are planning a celebration that promises to be nothing short of spectacular.
To mark this significant occasion, the choir has a line-up of exciting events, including an Anniversary Dinner, a Grand Concert featuring special guests and a weekend getaway to Northern Ireland in September.
During their visit, they will join forces with the award-winning Portadown and Ballymoney Male Voice Choirs, with plans to enchant audiences at the Giants Causeway Visitors Centre.
In preparation for the 40th Anniversary Tour, which involves reciprocal visits by the Irish choirs to North Devon in 2026, the choir is actively engaged in fundraising efforts. Local businesses and generous donors are invited to offer their support for this musical venture.
In 2023 alone, the Barnstaple Ladies Choir participated in a remarkable 20 engagements. Collaborating with various groups such as Tamar Valley MVC, The Wyndham Singers, Bois Goetre Hen Male Voices, South Molton Town Band, Centre Stage School, and Barnstaple MVC, they raised an impressive sum of over £5,000 for local charities.
Their performances extended to support organisations like Headway, Tyspane, North Devon Hospice, and the WI.
The choir cherishes opportunities to collaborate with other choirs and bands, both locally and beyond. As they approach the 40th Anniversary of their 'Choir Family,' the focus remains on nurturing talents, fostering friendships, welcoming new members, and continuing their tradition of raising funds for local charities.
