South West charities reap the rewards with £290,000 as part of NFU Mutual's national fund

The Care for Kids North Devon charity have received a donation of over £6,300.

NFU Mutual’s agent and branch offices in the South West have directed a substantial £290,000 to 54 local charities in the region.

This generous sum is part of NFU Mutual’s national £1.92 million Agency Giving Fund, launched by the head office of the rural insurer.

NFU Mutual’s initiative aimed to ensure the donations reached all corners of the UK and were directed where they were most needed in 2023. With more than 280 locations nationwide, the agency offices and branches were given the opportunity to nominate local charities, resulting in a significant positive impact on communities.

The contributions have been instrumental in diverse ways, from providing essential food parcels to supporting frontline health charities and facilitating ongoing outreach mental health services. These funds are making a tangible difference, fostering a sense of community resilience.

One standout example in the South West is the donation of more than £6,300 to Care for Kids North Devon, nominated by NFU Mutual Barnstaple and Bideford Agency. This generous contribution enables the charity to offer crucial support to six local families facing the challenges of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening illness or condition.

Fran Greenway, a trustee at Care for Kids, expressed gratitude for the donation, explaining its vital role in sustaining the charity’s mission: “Donations like this are what keep our charity going - we are totally reliant on the generosity of local businesses and individuals who fundraise for us and sponsor us.”

Roz Hills, NFU Mutual regional manager for the South West, commended the impact of local charities and the commitment of NFU Mutual’s agents to nominate a diverse range of causes.

She said: “Charities like Care for Kids are making a wonderful difference to our communities, and we are proud that our agents have nominated a wide range of local causes to benefit from NFU Mutual’s national fund.”
